I was driving, and wondering and er, yes paying attention to the road when I wondered when the GLD declares "I'll never dance again"
Is this because of personal/ego/humiliation reasons
or
Because of some irreparable knee ligament/cartilage injury? |

Nice touch to make sure you use oversea's slang of crisps instead of chips. _________________ "Fuck you board elitist." |

I thought it was ankle, or compound fibula fracture... _________________

Retrieving the bookling...
| The Bookling wrote: | A tragic limited engagement: He danced the Tango Argentine
in front of millions of Brazilians
A fall like they had never seen
or heard
or--crash
And they were crying that same day
The greatest living dancer, he'd never dance again |
I'm going with physical injury there, some sort of extremely violent ankle-rolling given that he's tango-ing.
I just learned something new: the line is "The attention went to his head (not unlike Isadora)," as opposed to "...not unlike his adorers," which is what I'd always assumed. The More You Know! |

Ha! I had thought it was "went to his head, not unlike his fedora", which seemed plausible, if a fairly poor lyric. |

It's usually knee injuries which ruin professional careers...
A severe ankle sprain (from rolling it over) would be fine within 6-12 weeks and he could return to his tour, even if he did fracture his fibula, he could have it plated and dance within 6-8 months, depending on how old he was...
If he was so hyped up and disregarded all his original home friends "he left no answer", then a fall whether injured or not would immediately remove his 'greatest dancer' status, thus he would be rendered one of the mediocre dancing masses. His reputation was destroyed.
In summary:
I really like the cello bits
PS I also greatly appreciated the 'crisps' gesture. |

I had thought the lyrics had said "And there was crying that same day" at that part, which gave me the impression of a broken soul (because of a broken leg). Given that, I initially thought that it pointed to Phoenix being very correct, but now I see the lyrics book says differently. I wish I had that damn thing... sigh. I'm gonna side with Phoenix though, and pretend you didn't share facts.

If you're going to dance the tango Argentine, you'd better be prepared for the consequences. _________________ CAUTION: Over the weekend, a short psychic escaped from police custody.

Well since it's never danced again, as opposed to couldn't dance again, the injury was more to his pride, than any appendage...
Also, there's nothing a good spinal adjustment can't fix, except a broken soul... _________________

While I'm certain It was psychologically devastating as well, I think the implication is a physical injury. It does say that millions of people were watching and none of them had ever seen or heard a fall like this one, so this is pretty epic. I imagine he fell off the stage into the orchestra, and landed on something much more awkward than the floor. I'm thinking spinal injury, multiple broken bones, the works. The world's greatest living dancer may be lucky to ever walk again.
Besides, never danced again flows so much better than couldn't dance again, I'm sure Sean would have used that either way. |
